Health Hot-Buttons Workshop on May 31, 2013

We have partnered with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR)
and Accelerated Rehabilitation to bring you a “Health Hot-Buttons” Workshop.

During this extraordinary event, you will hear about the growing number
of youth sports injuries and other health concerns pertaining to children.
You will have a chance to talk to team doctors for the Chicago Bulls and
Chicago White Sox, well-respected physical therapists and some of the
nation’s leading orthopedic specialists. Topics of discussion will include:
preventing injuries in young soccer players; concussion signs, symptoms
and recovery; protecting shoulders in overhead athletes (baseball, tennis
and volleyball players, and swimmers); playground safety
and an at-home test for scoliosis.
When: May 31, 2013
Registration and Continental Breakfast 9 a.m.
Program 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush Team Fights in the Battle Against Cancer

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) team is swimming in the Chicago Swim Across America event on Saturday, August 4 to benefit cancer research, prevention and treatment. MOR’s 14-member team led by team captain Patti Piasecki, registered nurse at MOR, includes cancer survivors Grace Waller, 19, and Andra Popa, patients of Dr. Walter Virkus, orthopedic oncologist at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, patient Meghan Falconer, who had spine surgery from Dr. Christopher DeWald, orthopedic surgeon at MOR, as well as Olympian David Sims.
